Day out at Arambol and Morjim

by on Mar.22, 2009, under Outings

The guys at office have been lately planning trips almost each weekend to some or the other places in goa these days. So they decided that this weekend we’ll go out to arambol and morjim. Almost a month back we had gone to a cool trekking place behind Fort Aguada which I didn’t know existed, it was fun and a nice experience except the fact that I had just gotten up from bed as I was down with fever and i decided to be too adventurous and take the steeper path back where we would have had to climb steep parts of the mountain… I somehow managed to reach the top and was extremely happy that I was alive, the exertion was a wee bit too much as the slope was too steep. Anyways the coming few weeks I had on and off fever, cold and a throat infection which finally got better after I was forced to go to the doctor and get medication by my sweetheart, failing to do which I had lots of bad things n store for me which I don’t even want to know 😛

Coming back to todays outing, I was supposed to wake up at 10am and we were going to leave at 11.  Although as Friday night’s are usually DotA nights, we were in office till around 3 or so in the morning and I finally managed to fall asleep at 4. So then, this is me at around 11:30 am…

I finally managed to meet up with my friends around 12:30 who were impatiently waiting for me. Oh and that broken latch is from 2 days ago which I talk about in this post.

The ride down to Arambol was quite smooth with just one stop at a bridge whose name I don’t remember from where we can slightly see the starting of morjim where we were going to go after wards, of course the view is extremely beautiful from the bridge that can’t be denied.

There are some other really good pictures of our trip which you can find here in my picassa album for this trip.

We straight away went to the sweet lake at little or upper arambol whatever it is called. Last time we had gone there to reach there we had to go over rocky areas to reach there however this time we could just follow the dirt road and easily reached there. At one place I thought the rocks had been cut but then Pranav pointed out that probably in the rainy seasons (that is when we had come), the water comes closer to the rocks, which sounds like an obvious reason. Anyways the water wasn’t as cool as last time and I for a change didn’t had to think 10 times before entering the water. There was lots of dried grass floating around but we found a clean area for ourselves. It was fun in there and there were several memorable moments and firsts.

Oh yeah I also tried chicken steam momo’s again at one of the shacks and ended up with disappointment again. I still am to find a place in goa who server even decent momo’s. My search for a place which serves decent Dal Makhani had finally ended at Delhi Durbar in Panaji (no wonder it has Delhi in it’s name, they ought to cook food like it’s in Delhi) but there has been no such luck in the case of chicken momo’s. We went trekking on the mountains a bit as well and reached the point from where we could see Fort Terecol which happens to be in Maharashtra, so basically we could see the border.

The food later at another shacks was inedible to say the least, the fish fingers was made from fish a week old and the coffee shake was made with water, the only saving grace they ice cream tasted like it was ice cream, we left most of the food and moved on to Morjim.

One of the most interesting things about being in Goa has been finding places with good food and to our liking, down south Palolem is the undisputed winner and food at Cuba is the best. Baga area has some decent food places as well and Panaji, what can I say we have tried several restaurants but it seems I like Delhi Darbar the best till now else of course there is always Fidalgo’s. By the way Pranav and I decided on Pizza’s for dinner, at least we would know what the food we order will taste like in the end -_-

Back to the days happenings, Morjim was a quiter place and we were at the sunset point. It seems like a different beach probably because where we were the river meets the ocean. The best part were the hundreds of birds at the beach, which seemed good contrary to my first impression that it might be boring, some of the birds were really huge, and I mean REALLY HUGE. The were like white swans but for the exact species I’ll have to google it up.

The were lots of moments and small things here and there, in all it was a memorable experience and a break from the now slowly becoming routine life. Could write if not a novel atleast a short story book here but this post has already reached monstorous proportions so will bid farewell at this. If I don’t make a phone call pretty soon am sure I’ll be sentenced to a night and the next day in hell, if you know what I mean ^_^

Till next time then, adios.

As serious as it gets.
